Eastside Makers Market

Today was my day at Eastside Makers Market. It was the first time for that particular market and I had a lovely time. Things slowed down during the afternoon but overall I was really pleased with the day. I even found the perfect red and white polka dot earrings from Silver Nutmeg and a Golden Pear. And if you haven't checked out Hiiragi, you really should.

Lots of sunshine!

Comics Camp

C just got back from his annual Comics Camp (aka many other kooky things) in Victoria. They have made an awesome blog and this is one of my favourite drawings so far. Just happens to include two of my favourite artists - Rebecca and Chris :)

Super cool drawing by Andrew Fulton.

My five faves!

Playing along with Meet Me at Mike's!

My five fave things from this week were -

1. Rediscovering Suede. They still give me shivers.
2. Watching The Breakfast Club.
3. Snuggling with my kitty cat while it's cold and rainy outside.
4. Catching up with these cool art chicks.
5. Finally getting The Making of Fantastic Mr Fox!

Hope your week was a good one too ^_^

I Heart Suede

No, I don't mean the material (dead cows, no thanks) but the super awesome UK band. These guys came out in the early nineties with their self titled debut album (you could say they pretty much started Brit pop) and as soon as I heard them my little teenage brain was on fire. I've always wanted a copy of the album on CD as I have a cassette version somewhere but it's been so hard to find (at a decent price anyway). So when Chris's buddy Duncan gave it to me on MP3 I was completely ecstatic. This album definitely rates high in my top ten of all time.

For the last few days I've been totally rocking out to Brett Anderson's kooky British vocals. He is so androgynous and deliciously arrogant. OMG. I love it! It so takes me back to being a teenager - all those rampant hormones and lovelorn angsty feelings.

Do you remember Suede?

How can you not want to mimic that accent? Metal Mickey is my absolute fave.

PS> Duncan - thanks for Rat Cat too!
PPS> And while I'm talking about new music, a shout out to Matt for She & Him Volume 2! Can Zooey ever do anything wrong?!

Quartered Lap Quilt

Just finished this off today! It was my first time adding binding. I decided to hand stitch the back binding just cos hand stitching is so nice to do (and it looks good too). I need a little practice with the corners and making the binding bigger but I am proud of my first effort!

Getting ready

Things are moving along at a nice pace for us this month. On our last day off together we had a lovely day visiting the Salvos and picking out some super fun DVD sets at a local video store. We got a few episodes of Doctor Who (we've been told we HAVE to watch 'Blink'), That Mitchell and Webb Look Season Two and The Wombles Season One. I was vastly disappointed by The Wombles as while it looks exactly the same as it did when I was a kid, it's actually a new version which has gone all politically correct and fast paced. It's awful. It really is. This version is so much better!

Look at this cow I got at the Salvos! It drools cream when tipped! Bunny cookie cutter is all ready for Easter. French Earl Grey tea introduced to me at sewing afternoons with Cat.

New laptop sticker. Naughty Snow White.

Chris is getting ready to jet off to Melbourne this weekend for Comics Camp (aka Camp Fear Blanket by some) and I've been getting some new sewing projects together for the Eastside Makers Market.

Here's a quilt,

some felt badges,

and Babushkas to fill with lavender.

A lovely friend from work made me this gorgeous bunch of flowers as a congratulatory pressie for some good news I received. They are so beautiful and smell AMAZING!! She did a great job don't you think?

The month that was...February!

Phew! What a month! February went by in a complete blur for us both. The weather has been unbelievably gorgeous and we had a lovely visit with some family from the USA. Visitors don't happen too often so we probably went a little overboard with wanting to show too many things! That being said, it's been an absolutely fab summer (we even have tans, whoop!). Things have settled down now and it's just the two of us and kitty again. That means we've both had a chance to make things :D

I just finished my Little Red Lap Quilt (now available on Etsy) and a custom order of lavender filled Babushkas for this lovely lass.

Chris made a great little zine for a subscription club that he's part of too! He had to do a zine for the month of February. It's called The Littel Dragun.

There's a change in the air for me this year as well! It's exciting :) I'll post more when it's official.

Oh, and I'll have a stall at the Eastside Makers Market on March 28th. I'm planning on having a couple of mini quilts and some lavender Babushkas. Check out their blog for details and come support local handmade!
